could easily model it on NFL and turn it global
Have two European conferences of 16 in 4 divisions and rotate who plays who.
Either make the inter division/conference games home & away or increase their frequency to bring you to 26 'league' fixtures (vs 16 NFL), which then leaves plenty of rest time for Champions League and some Domestic Cups (as they will probably look to remain in those to keep domestic fans happy, and those competitions will be desperate for them to participate for an appropriate slice of the financial pie) and internationals (as the sop to the national FAs)
Or even better, sack off the domestic competitions entirely and make it global. So you have your 32 European teams playing their 26 fixtures. Leaves plenty of time in the 'off' weeks to be playing some fixtures against the Asian Conference or the MLS conference or the S American Conference....
Heck, maybe even have a 'superbowl' season finale within Europe and a World Series vs the top US/South Am/Asian 'superbowl' winners.
Fuck me mates, I'm taking this idea to Scudamore. I'm gonna be rich.
