Yeah I think this is very true

And I've ranted about this before. People now expect more 'value for money' which is very difficult with a product as unpredictable as football and where some 'customers' are always going to be disappointed.

Maybe though the emotional tie makes it hard to walk away so you end up with this constant state of disgruntlement
