Although surely most norwich fans (and fans of any club outside the top end of the prem really) are from the area? Or have a family connection to the area?

Not sure that's changed that much. I think how football is consumed has changed, and maybe that's what his point is, it's entertainment now more than the tribal piece he identifies from years gone by.

But it's not all bad, in fact I'd say football grounds are a much better place to be now than 30 years ago. Sure, some atmosphere has been lost, its all more commercial etc. But (tin hat on) I like the family friendly environment that is available (just don't want a whole ground of it).
