Following everyone's top films, here's the Sugbad list of flicks what I watched lately (
Do please add any that you've recently come across and are worth doing a watch of.
Get Out - starring that bloke from the million credits episode of Black mirror, I liked this one a lot. a modern horror. Bit silly towards the end but very good nonetheless (7.5)
Mississippi Grind - two blokes on a gambling road-trip, one apparently lucky and the other not. Highly enjoyable and nicely done and might make a few hardcore gamblers think about themselves. (7)
Autopsy of Jane Doe - Best horror flick I've seen for ages. There were some genuinely skin-crawling moments which is very unusual for me (7/10)
Boy and the World - brazilian animation - lovely animation, really imaginative. Great use of music too. if you did an acid before watching this it might push you over the edge (7.5)
Colossal - Interesting take on a 'finding oneself' flick (6.5)
Lost city of Z - Was very reminiscent of The Mission in parts, but went on a bit too long for my liking. Had some good bits though (6)
Prevenge - if you liked Sightseers you'll probably enjoy this one by Alice lowe. Pregnant woman on a murder spree (6.5)
Red Turtle - Very interesting and beautifully animated flick with literally no dialogue at all, bar the odd "hey" and grunts. a must see if you like animation surely (7)
Ghost in the Shell - I'd read some poor reviews but I thought it was pretty good. There were some lovely effects and it was fairly close to the original stuff in spirit I think. Bit hollywoody but I enjoyed it (6.5)
Girl with all the gifts - Another zombie flick, but a british one and a lot better than most (7)
Under sandet (land of mine) - About german soldiers forced to clear Denmark of landmines after the war. Very well done indeed. I thought it was excellently crafted with some great performances too (8)
Skull Island: Jesus, this was a load of old s**t. As pleasantly surprised as I was by the last Kong fillum, I was disappointed by this load of cobblers (4.5)
Lion . Highly enjoyable flick about the true story of a kid who gets lost in India and his efforts to find how to get back to a home he doesn't know the name of. Once you see it, you'll probably remember the news story. (7)
