I'll surprise myself here by picking out Whittaker (who might have done a decent job at wing back in a 5-3-2) and dorrans (although I believe he wanted to leave).

Ruddy was ok but was never himself consistently after his thigh injury or whatever it was. He needed a fresh start. Howson and Murphy were just sales. Both wanted to go and we got decent money for them. Dijks has a future at Ajax and is an ajacied. As for the rest I wouldn't have kept any of them. All needed replacing even had Irvine or even Neil still been at the helm.

Mind you, if we'd had Farke's system in with Dijks and redmond still at norwich, and with Brady playing the role Stiepermann seems to have come in for. Yeah. Would have liked that but was never possible really.

You have to also remember that when a squad has an underachieving season with a lot of criticism, especially following a relegation season, players will often feel in a downward spiral and feel the need to move on in order to gain positivity.
