Ultimately they want to sell papers/ have lots of hits on their website.
This kind of exclusive, I.e an insight into the club that no one else has, is far more valuable to them than Michael Bailey being given carte Blanche to write a relatively uninteresting thought piece criticising the clubs approach this summer.
I'm not saying they would retain the club's loyalty at all costs, but it shouldn't be too hard to balance their objectives and the clubs objectives and retain credibility all at the same time.
