If you like Museums/art then Washington DC
most of the the stuff in DC is free as well.
My advice is spend a few days in NY and a few days in DC.
Might even be worth taking in a day in Philadelphia as well.
If on the west coast for a week then do Vegas/LA/SF. That's a lot of one week though.
