probably contributed more than anything else to Stokey's distinctive character over the past few decades - made it more affordable, and therefore (relatively) alternative / arty, and full of people with young kids, particularly compared with neighbouring Islington, say.

Has been changing fairly rapidly, though, over the past few years, as money has moved east, and hipsters have moved north via Shoreditch, Dalston etc. Sometimes feels like being in Islington now...
