does he actually mean tactics during an individual game or the overall basic approach during the season as a whole?

I'm thinking about Walker during the 92/93 season, who didn't change our basic philosophy even after a few hammerings (like the 7-1 at Blackburn). As opposed to Neil changing ours a couple of years ago after the 6-2 at Newcastle.
