Because my council wasn't up.
Otherwise of course I would have. People literally died to give me the right to vote. The least I can do is exercise it - even if, as I have on occasion done, I blank-vote (yes, that may seem - and indeed be - futile; but if enough people did it, they'd take notice alright. Not bothering to turn up counts as "meh", blank-voting counts as "f**k the lot of you").
