Mainly for attitude, I guess.
He's not perfect, but he doesn't hide when it's not going well and he always offers support to attack. He's also put in some pretty good performances as well. That shouldn't be forgotten - I was at Brighton and Birmingham so I've seen the bad, but there have been some good shows as well. And supporters love a trier, it's "supporters" who get on their own team's backs.
