Attention Worthy supporters
Sorry here it is with paragraphs (no pictures, though). If you find it too difficult now maybe Waghorn's right!
PLEASE just stop being silly! It really is time everybody stopped being emotional and just looked at the facts.
Nigel Worthington, decent man, good solid professional footballer, had a go at management at Blackpool rather too early in his career and messed up, came to Norwich as an assistant to learn a bit more and obviously wasn't able to stop an aged has-been (Hamilton) from doing a truly appalling job.
Worthington then took over, cleverly manipulated the board into giving him the job long-term and did well. Whether or not luck came into it isn't really relevant (Crouch, Hux etc came along) and he took us up as champions.
THEN it all started to go wrong. Worthington had reached his peak and was clearly unable to cut it with the big boys when it came to tactics. A few of us suspected as much in the promotion year when we faced one or two of the better than average teams in that league and struggled. In the Prem the dull, defensive 'hold what we've got' approach was found to be less than effective and even when Ashton arrived it was (only just) too late to save things.
Inevitably we have lost players, there have been one or two pretty desperate signings and one or two that he's probably been a bit unfortunate with plus the Leon business hasn't helped. BUT the real truth is that he is tactically inept. He desperately clings to his job hoping things will turn around (a win or two against really poor teams etc) but he's been in the job 5 years plus and he's had his time. He really isn't up to it tactically and that's the bottom line.
Sadly Foley and Livermore are (perhaps inevitably) 'yes men' and they're not up to much either. Nice men all of them, I'm sure, but it's not really a nice business is it and sooner or later if you earn big money (and they sure do compared to the rest of us) you have to deliver results.
So the nice people on our board have to do something that seems cruel and END THIS THING NOW. We'll all still respect you and you might be putting a few people out of work for a while but they sure won't starve.
So come on Worthington 'supporters' have some courage, admit you are wrong and that 5 years is enough for us to see what someone's made of. Wat everybody must realise is that you aren't a bad person just because you make a rational judgement about somebody performing badly.
I really think this is the crux of the problem - the board, like the Worthy 'supporters' are actually afraid of being seen as nasty people. End result...thousands of us suffer. Unbelievable really!
