Arneside and Silverdale are nice. Cracking
views of the Lake fells across the River Kent estuary. There is a train from Manchester that wends its way up there and across the river to Grangemaoth and all way up Cumbrian west coast I believe.
On the Yorkshire side go to Whitby and up the coast to Saltburn
