Oh I appreciate that i meant if the EU agreed to it in advance of
Scotland being Independent. I.e. said during the campaign "once you are independent you can join the EU." They won't do that as they don't want to encourage other potential break away states/provinces.
I have no doubt that once established an independent Scotland could apply to and join the EU but it would probably take them a few years to do so during which time they would be exposed on their own.
