I think it's not necessarily so simple;
these kind of psychological tricks can have an impact. Either in terms of taking the pressure off, or giving the squad a tangible challenge.
I'm not sure if setting a target of e.g. 75 points would have the right impact though in this case with this group of players. They don't seem the best at seizing the moment and taking on responsibility, so I could see them thinking thatthere are always more games to reach the target - letting opportunities slip away.
With this squad, I think the best approach is to just take each game individually and try to build each one up into some kind of win or bust situation. Don't give them the option of rectifying a poor result the next week.
