That's all despite the bar for quality not being particularly high.

I know a lot of people get upset by the celebrity culture that he's sort of brought to refereeing but that was only a matter of time before it happened, especially given the nature of football nowadays. He just happened to be the first one really who got caught up in it, whether he liked it or not.
