Yes and no.
If we scraped 6th and then lost in the final, we'd all know we had a poor under performing season and the final glosses over it.
If we finished third and lost in the final, we'd probably all be a bit miffed that we threw it away early on (presuming there wasnt a massive gulf between third and second) and then be less worried about the next season.
Because we are not and never were guaranteed a top two. Yes we had resources, yes we on paper had a decent team, but if we are now fans which demand something like this then have we bordered on the arrogance of some other clubs we have disdain for?
Easier for me to say as I'm not a regular CR watcher now I'm in York and so some of the dogs dinners of performances I haven't had the misfortune of spending my time and money on.
