We went to South Africa and Mauritius.

6 flights in total, so lots of coordination would have been required to make it work. Plus, all connections are dealt with, (which we felt more comfortable with spending time on Johannesburg).

Also made booking hire cars and organising trips in Mauritius easier as we had someone to help with it.

Don't get me wrong, we could have done all of this ourselves and it would have save a bit of money I'm sure. But we had enough stuff to organise for our wedding, it was nice not having to worry about any of the organisational elements of the honeymoon.

If we weren't going somewhere which required a bit of local knowledge, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

For example, we went to Cape Town the year after that, and I didn't use a travel agent as it was just as easy to do myself - in fact a travel agent would have been too restrictive.
