Run Norwich n00b question

is it considered poor form to run in anything other than proper, wicking fabric, specialist running gear?

I've got a nice pair of Milan shorts and our house is full of fabric paint and I was thinking of lapping you all in a bespoke #CityFathers t-shirt

Or will the Redgraves of this world banish me from the startline?
