I think we've changed our whole recruitment policy

since the Lambert days. Got the feeling he identified players and McNally got them. These days I get the feeling that AN has little to no involvement in recruitment and that others identify players for him. I appreciate that this is more and more common but it does seem to create a real detachment between the players and the manager.
The more and more I think about it I just believe that his involvement is solely on the training ground and for everything else he is just a face.
