The thing is that the vastness majority of top level sportsmen and women are nice. Mostly,

it is extremely difficult to reach the top in any sport if you are an arsehole.

Obviously there are a few who slip through the net but not many. They simply are not tolerated.

Then you have the other side which I think gets confused with whether somebody is a good person or not - the cotton wool in which they are wrapped. All the things I hate about Ronaldo are not fair of me really. He lives in a totally different reality from me. And just because he throws himself to the ground or poses for a photo, has his hair styled at half time or founds his own museum have non bearing whatsoever on whether or not he is a good person.
