I read a devastating piece about how they found the deputy head with his
arms around five of his pupils - trying to protect them. The slurry had set hard around them so they had to be broken apart to be separated.
It's hard to imagine as well what it must have been like for the twenty or so children who survived.
I had a six year old brother who died on 17Th Sept 1966 - just a few weeks before. Yesterday was the first time I wondered about how my mum and dad coped with hearing such terrible news after their own personal tragedy. (Actually I'm not sure my dad ever got over it. My mum was amazing though and an inspirational that our family have come through impossible sadness before).
I liked your comment yesterday AC to give your children a cuddle x
