my old man was a master mariner RIP and jockeyed the big old supertankers for BP, during the long trips he used to pass time by going down to the chippys shop (ships carpenters) and make all sorts of things and then get them freighted home. one time he made a beautiful wooden canoe for us kids and we all set off to launch it on the broads and a jumped up harbourmaster tried to get him to fork out a slip-fee. f**kun bad move lolz. i've been having a fair old bucket list squint at the ardeche for a while now it looks pretty wild without being insane, getting on a bit now.
