I think something similar happens with bike riding software
When I get back from a longish ride on a Sunday, I put the ride straight up on Strava. It immediately tells me I've just burnt 2,000 calories or more (and at this point I'm hungry, obviously). I do think that knowledge / reminder makes it much more tempting to then overeat, compared with if I just hadn't been told how many cals I might have burnt. (And worse in this case, I'm not sure I really trust the software. But the number just gets wedged in your mind.)
Imagine the same thing might be happening here.
