What is a "marquee" signing?

If there's one thing this transfer window has taught us (as if we didn't know it already) is that Norwich fans rarely agree over what makes a good signing. McCormack was either over priced or a proven striker, Rhodes devides opinion, why would we bring back Mbokani, Why are we so unambitious with Oliveira etc etc.

I'd rather sign a player who we are confident can compete in this division than gamble a load of money on someone who might not
