Notes from today (yesterday)

1. Wednesday are a very good championship team and a point is no disgrace.

2. Having said that, the way we came speeding out of the traps, got frustrated and lost our way was worrying reminiscent of last season. I suspect most teams won't be able to contain us going forward in the way Wednesday did but we need more resilience, energy or a plan B for when we don't score early.

3. How come we looked so knackered in the second half? Did we run ourselves out in the first or are we just a bit unfit? The enforced subs didn't help but still we were blowing out of arses for the last 10 mins.

4. Mulumbu was out best player after he came, as verified by the two neutrals I was sitting with. Unbelievable some of the scores I've seen for him on here.

5. Talking of CMs, Tettey had a stinker I thought with lots of misplaced passes and Howson was just completely anonymous. By comparison, the defence was very impressive. I see we're signing another CB though - back up or just one for the future?

6. Jerome was obviously poor. Poor touch, poor vision, poor finishing. He should not be starting striker for us by the end of the window. Naismith looked ragged by the end but playing him as a lone striker for 20 minutes certainly didn't help.

7. McGovern was fine after a couple of questionable early kicks. One decent-ish save but nothing extraordinary.

8. Looking forward to Bris, I'd expect a rejigged formation - proper width on both sides would be my suggestion, even it it does means dropping Wes. Anyway I doubt he'll figure after playing the full 90 today. How often did he do that last season?
