I'd agree with all of this

£13m is steep in last year's market. It may not be in this year's, as the new TV money effect trickles down the divisions.

Assombalonga would be a risk with his injury, but signing both him and McCormack would be a great signal of intent. I'm assuming the quacks will take a very long hard look at his knee ahead of any money being signed off.

We're going to need at least one new winger, though, especially if Brady is off and Jarvis is out until Christmas as someone said yesterday.

I'd also like us to get Timm a new partner but in the Champs, Timm and RBen with Turner and Bass as backup (not to forget Martin, whom I see as a RB but AN sees as a CB) with Olsson on the left and Pinto on the right is pretty decent (though it would absolutely require strengthening were we to go up again). So it may be gilding the lily a bit to hope for Pinto-Timm-new guy -Olsson as our starting back four: Pinto-Timm-RBen-Olsson will be better than most Champs teams have.

Something I have no feel for is whether any of these youngsters like Madison will be starting any games any time soon.
