I'm reading a history of that right now and I was wondering if there was an alternate

History whereby the French defended their occupied territory in Germany instead of letting about ten German soldiers walz in unopposed. As then hitter would have been finished. No Second World War. Likely no nuclear weapons at least for a long time. No Cold War. Far fewer of the technical advances nor the holocaust to show us the true horrors that can result from such a war. British empire still in existence. A generation of young men not dead. No destruction. So fewer jobs, economies plunging into despair. No USA world power of the level of today (no Marshall plan tying the world to the dollar). I wonder if to this day European powers would not still be fighting and colonising for resources all over the world. (One could suggest they still are but that's a different scale and method).

I think the world might be just as completely different had the Germans won the war. And not all in a good way.
