How can you tell people that the benefits of being in are what they've already got, if they don't like that?

The only alternative is to say it would be worse if not in.

How can the remain campaign which by its very nature is based on reality compete with the leave campaign which is based on hypothetical dreaming and wistful memories of days gone by?

All you can do is let the people make their choice. And they have.
