said in their manifestos before the coalition that they'd hold a referendum if elected - and then, when they both were elected, they promptly agreed to drop it ....
only party that's consistently opposed the EU is UKIP - but voting for them is otherwise a waste of time - so people have been deprived of a respectable means of expressing their dissatisfaction (same as with immigration/multi-culturism) - and that's generally a recipe for unrest ...
