Big companies will not be affected too much by moving their focus to other countries. In the meantime, our gesture of defiance causes the cheap labour, as you put it, to become unemployed, unless as if by magic many British companies mushroom from nowhere. That may happen in the longer term but that's not a lot of help until that point. The likely government won't be of the colour to help the unemployed much either, unless leopards do change their spots. Now, if we had a government that was socially liberal, supported the weaker in society and wanted to rebalance the economy into a different, more sympathetic kind, then I could see the point in leaving the EU. We'd have something different to go for - instead what we might be getting is a much more unregulated, unsympathetic and ruthless economy without the safety net that collaboration with other countries provides. Gove is not the answer.
