Something I failed to understand when spending time there

and still don't understand is this: there are two petrol stations about a third of a mile apart on the south of Lake Geneva about half way round. One is on the Swiss side, one on the French; the border is mostly theoretical (drive through and wave your passport, usually you don't even have to open it). The price at one is about two thirds of the price of the other. Yet queues at both were always about the same length.

Honestly, who *wouldn't* drive literally a few hundred yards to save a third on their fuel costs? Apparently, quite a lot of Swiss people, is the answer.
