I think you will find that just about EVERY fan to a man felt we had taken a huge gamble/risk by not strengthening the defence and said as much at the time. Striker wise it was harder to tell as we did not really know what Mbok would be like. Ultimately the fans have been proven right - no hindsight required.

Mulumbu has probably been the one we all were happy with but has disappointed most and so has Jarvis (although I am not sure we had high hopes for him in the first place) who in my book is completely ineffective but I suppose may be quite decent in the championship.
