He has good strength to hold up the ball

but too often loses the ball with poor touches. No doubt he's effective if he has it under control though.

If we played with all of those midfielders surrounding him it would leave the centre of the pitch exposed and force us to rely on full backs for width. Then we go back to conceding goals due to "tactical naivety" and we're back to square one.

This is why we need a striker with good movement or pace to stretch defences, to force opposition defences back, create space to attack an take pressure off the midfield. Jerome is fantastic at that and it was a large part of the reason why there wasn't a lot of pressure placed on our defence in the past two games despite playing good opposition. The problem though is that Jerome is a dreadful finisher and it makes you realise that none of the options are good enough. They all have attributes that would make them good at a lower level (hence Mbokani scoring goals in poor European leagues but failing to make it in England, Germany and France top flights) but not the total package that makes them premier league class.

Holt certainly wasn't fast but he had excellent movement and timing of runs, which unfortunately Mbokani doesn't.
