I'm long distance hiker too. It can be random.
I've walked 26+ miles on LDWA events and my feet are fine. Then randomly I blistered badly after 12 miles on one walk. I altered socks for the next walk and the problem went away. I double up on Bridgedale socks (thin inner and thick outer socks) in the winter but have to go down to single socks in the summer or if I'm hiking in somewhere hot like Tenerife.
I find compeed blister plasters work, others don't and find microporous tape more effective.
It's just getting that boots/socks/blister treatment combo that works for you, this can take time and experimentation
