PM: Old Man, BWoD. Gamer Frewns. CONTAINS SPOILERS.

We surely just saw the start of the exposition necessary for R+L=J. I am not even tangentially in doubt.

I've read a lot recently about the stark and 'unnecessary' nature of the violence at the start, particularly the Mountain That Rides creaming that guy's head into the wall, but I dunno. Item 1) bit late in the day to start criticising Frewns for violence, like, hello? Item 2) I thought the scene as a whole served well to demonstrate the low regard Cersei is still held in by the subjects of King's Landing (and that the nature of that low regard has misogyny as it's axis, which it would, because of the world it's in) but how she can start to reclaim her former position. And that worked well with the scene of Tommen's contrition.

Juxtapose that with the High Sparrow schooling Jaime in the way the Sept can oppose growing Lannister power, and King's Landing is becoming my fave part of the story.

Castle Black has gone a bit bats**t (but, R+L=J, so intrigue), and Arya/Jaqen has gone a bit off the boil (she's gone from persona non grata and unable to cope sightless, to welcome back to Jaqen's tutelage in no time at all? Nope.)
