I know you're burning with anger about the junior doctors thing but please try to exercise some judgment

There are a thousand ways in which HMRC allows you to reduce your tax liability - save in an ISA, invest in a VCT, put money into pension, use the spouse exemption etc etc

Those are all fine and not morally repugnant. That is all Dave has done.

What is NOT fine is aggressive avoidance. I come across this all the time in my work. Aggressive avoidance consists of highly artificial schemes which typically go through a series of steps designed to create an enormous loss on paper (without the taxpayer ever actually losing any money) so that the fake "loss" can be offset against real income. That's morally repugnant.

There is no hypocrisy involved at all in doing one but criticising the other, there really isn't. They are chalk and cheese.
