I find it very patronising I'm afraid.

Like I said, a rapport with the fans is a right, not a privilege. The clapping and the badge-kissing as a gesture essentially says "You are wonderful fans" and (more importantly) "You and I are one" - which you DO have to earn.

In the case of the first, I don't really understand what Hughes was basing his opinion on, seeing as he'd only just arrived, having never supported Norwich or (as far as I could tell) played in front of our fans very much, and in the case of the second, that does need to be earned through good play, not empty gestures.
