Well, OK ...

... Towards the end things got a bit fraught. But I don't know what to believe about Ashton's injuries - whether the club were faking them, or Ashton was, or whether they were genuine.

Even if he wasn't happy - and if I was Ashton and went from playing alongside Helveg, Bentley, McKenzie and Francis to Thorne, Hughes, Etuhu, Robinson and Jarrett in the space of a few months - he ensured that we got a decent fee for him, and did keep banging in the goals when he was fit and the team was playing well.

I think Ashton gave the club a decent chance to meet his ambition - unlike (say) Defoe when WHU went down - and I understand why he was so frustrated and wanted a move, which I don't think he went about in an unduly under-handed way - there were no rants to the media and no furious rows with Worthington or team-mates.

And we got a very, very good amount of money for him.
