we live in truly great times when looking back
to think we locked kids like that away. so sad.
120 years ago my wife would probably have been in a similar institution for epilespsy, come to think of it.
60 years ago my kids may have been born limbless as my wife would have been prescribed thalidomide during her pregnancies.
30 years ago my brother died due to having a heart defect at birth - one that's fairly trivial now.
my youngest daughter would probably have died within weeks of birth not very long ago due to a severe milk protein intolerance.
thank heavens for the NHS etc.
