It's difficult to find one representative, he was a chameleon. However
personal favourites are his odder tracks (Andy Warhol, Bewlay Brothers, Loving the Alien), but Heroes, Let's Dance & many, many others are all excellent. Space oddity is still amazing. And I bet not that many people noticed Can't Help Thinking About Me by David Jones & The Lower Third (?). Made me sit up & take notice when it appeared on Juke Box Jury.
Starman sounds to me like music for people who don't like Bowie much. Rather like people who aren't keen on Roxy Music like Jealous Guy.
