I know a few Op's Geo's in the Brisbane office from my days with Santos and only one of them is left now, expecting to get the boot in the next month or so.

I got made redundant in May last year after our company went under. Back in the boom we had 150 Geologists and over 2 years that got culled down to 5. Then us final 5 were let go.

This gig I got offered wouldn't be too bad. It's about a year worth of work initially as a Pit Geologist at Cavell Ridge. Although it's pretty crap pay and it's full on coring every day. At least with BMA it's decent on your CV which is almost the only thing making me consider it. I've got used to being home all the time again and my business is going alright now. I'd earn a bit more money going back but I'm happy at the moment. To me the money isn't the big draw, especially nowadays.
