80's memorabilia expertise please

Amongst my late uncle's belongings we found an NCFC whisky decanter.

It is engraved:

Norwich v Aris
9.8.99
Bryan Gunn

Anyone got any ideas about its provenance?

Did we have a pre-season against an Aris that year? Thessaloniki?

Would it have passed through Gunny's hands? Any reason why he would have been given a decanter?
