Course they do but, with respect, the "pressures" on premier league

professional footballers are not "immense."

They may go off the rails like any of us and they may suffer mental illness like anyone else but I do not accept that a professional goalkeeper earning ?40k a week for playing a game (or not even playing it now) in the case of Ruddy is under "immense pressure" in his day to day existence. I'd wager Ruddy is not currently working 15 hour days trying to complete various deals prior to Christmas or wondering if he will be able to afford his kids Christmas presents or indeed wondering if he is about to be shipped off to some warzone.

Given his background in the forces i suspect he, himself, will acknowledge that the existence of a professional footballer is a pretty cushy one.
