Isn't it partly because we're ineffective on the break?

Against The Arse in particular we gave the ball away a lot in the opening 30, so on the rare occasions they let us have it/we won it back/they messed up we just handed the ball back to them. In the second half we used the ball a bit better and were more effective going forward.

I don't think AN sends them out to not attack, it's just that we're not fast/slick enough to hit people on the break, and can be ponderous in possession, losing the ball before we do anything with it. That makes a cautious approach seem very defensive as we end up bus parking/pinned in our own half.
