I'd like the players who are best equipped for the job to tackle the premier league.

Johnson had one great season for us (in the division below) his previous seasons in the prem were average at best.

I understand he's a bit of a cult hero, rightly so for what he did last season. However looking at the squad this season, chances are he would be a bench warmer for the vast majority.

From all the players who could play in his position, is he better than any of them?

For a player who signed on a free, who's pushing 29, had one excellent season. A deal rising to ?7.5 million is great business.

Whether we should have reinvested the money is another story though.
