Chelsea spend far more than us on their academy, and when assessing the 'output' it is a loss making enterprise. He has suggested that unless it produces a first team player soon it should be disbanded and the money diverted into the transfer fund.
Maybe a bit extreme but perhaps questions should be asked about whether so much resource should be put into coaching youngsters when it is so unpredictable as to how they will develop in 5 or 10 years time.
