My late 2009 iMac is still flying on the latest operating system. Good as new. Gorgeous bit of kit.
Despite having a 2013 Air, I am also not giving up my late 2008 Air. Specs are: Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 128GB SSD.
Goes like a steam train still, even on the latest OS (admittedly not as fast as the new one and battery only lasts about 3 hrs these days as opposed to the 12-14 hrs of the newer one).
Not half as expensive as you'd think when you consider that you'd have to buy or seriously upgrade any Windows PC or laptop over that kind of timeline just to have it run the latest stuff. All I've done is a RAM upgrade on the iMac for about 35 quid. Quality saves you money in the long run.
