The problem is they don't always apply

the letter of the law. So even where there should be consistency there isn't. So we might as well go back to knowng there'll be inconsistency by allowing more interpretation and man management.

I suppose the problem is that most players are bigger arseholes than they ever used to be and harder to control.

One thing I will never understand is why you get sent off on a Sunday for swearing at the ref yet nothing is done in pro football. If they were serious about stamping out dissent then apply the rules correctly in that area. If I can stop my self from swearing at a ref - and it's f**king hard sometimes - then so can Wayne Rooney.
