This critique reminds me that that scene *was* in the book (SPOILERS)

with Jeyne Poole being raped, with Reek forced to watch. It's that scene that gives Theon his agency again, and he thereafter starts to come round.

I find it hard to disagree with much of their argument. However, while I wouldn't criticise their final conclusion, I don't subscribe to it myself.
